Featured Fosters

Eleanor partners with One Step Closer Animal Rescue (O.S.C.A.R.) and Byram Animal Rescue Kindness Squad (B.A.R.K.S.) to showcase featured fosters in dire need of FURever homes. Some require extra tender loving care. Please consider adopting one of these beautiful furry friends. If your barn needs a cat, less-friendly felines are your green solution to mouse, mole, and rodent problems in stables, farms, warehouses, etc. Give a less social kitty a chance! Email Barks here or call (973) 300-3185. Please be patient while you wait. Adoption is a process, and the rescue centers want to make sure you and a pet are a perfect match. #adoptdontshop

German Shepard/Lab Mix. Young male; 45 lbs. 3 years old. Captain has the most expressive eyes begging for love. He is housebroken and knows basic commands. This handsome fellow likes to be left alone while he enjoys his meals but otherwise he is a playful dog who loves his toys. He can't get enough of squeaky toys. Captain loves to be outdoors and explore. He can be picky about his dog friends and would probably do best as an only dog and in a home with older children.

German Shepherd Dog/Black and Tan Coonhound Mix. Young male; 42 lbs. 3 years old. Raco was neglected before his owner finally surrendered him. He had some missing hair but with good nutrition and lots of love, his hair has almost completely grown back in. In spite of what he went through, Raco is a wonderful dog who is very friendly and gets along with other dogs, people, and kids. He loves getting attention and being pet.

Boxer/Mountain Cur Mix. Young female; 68 lbs. 5 years old. Matilda and her puppies were dumped at a shelter. It was then, at a vet check, that Matilda was found to be heartworm positive. Matilda has been an awesome mom to her babies and all her pups have found their forever homes. She has completed treatment for heartworm and her shots are up to date. Matilda has an adorable underbite that gives her face such character. She is people-friendly, sweet, loving. Although she can be a little strong on a leash, she enjoys playing ball and snuggling. She can be picky about her doggie friends and is not a fan of cats, so an only-pet home would suit her best.

Norwegian Elkhound and Spitz Mix. Male; 35 lbs. 6 years old. Gandolf lived much of his life outside and is just learning the perks of indoor living. He has a tail that curves over his back which bounces when he walks and is relaxed and happy. Gandolf loves to sit next to you and be pet. This boy is loyal to his herding breed and enjoys calmly watching guard over his humans. His ideal home would be a home without children and someone looking for a dog to keep a watchful eye over them.

Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher Mix. Female; 14 lbs. or less. 5 years old. Lupita is spayed and her shots are up-to-date. Lupita is the sweetest and most loyal and girl. Her foster mom says she needs to be given a few days to slowly get to know you, but once that happens, she gives lots of kisses and loves to sleep under the covers with you. She's cuddly and gentle. Once she trusts you, she will be your constant companion and shadow. Lupita doesn't mind cats and gets along with other dogs, but she is not interested in playing with them. Due to her small size, Lupita would do best in a home with older, respectful kids

Coco - B.A.R.K.S.

Lavender Point Siamese-Mix. Male. 5 years old. Coco is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, combo tested, had a dewormer, and has been microchipped. He takes time to get to know new people, but allows petting when being bribed with his favorite treat: kitty broths on a spoon. The ideal home will be quiet with no dogs. Think of him as a roommate who will share your space while you see if your relationship develops further!

Grey Tabby. Male. Adult. Jupiter is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is loving and will roll around and hug you. He needs to be in a home with adults and no other cats. Jupiter will make the right person a wonderful companion

Milo - B.A.R.K.S.

Milo is 2 1/2 years old and Marshall is 4 1/2 years old. Bonded pair. These two have lived together all their lives. Both are neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. They lost what they thought was a forever home and are hoping someone will open their heart to take these two handsome boys in. They are both front-declawed. Best in a home with adults and no dogs
