Lafayette Cemetery

On June 6, 2020, Lady Ghostbuster Brittany Iwanski and the author Eleanor Wagner set out to go Cemetery Hopping all over Sussex County. When they went to Lafayette Cemetery, their goal was to connect with Harmon Hockenberry - the spirit they had a lengthy communication with at the Brick & Mortar investigation. He had indicated he was buried in the Lafayette Cemetery. This is that author's story about what happened on their visit:

At first glance, the Lafayette Cemetery appears to go on forever, but when you actually trudge up the hill and get a full-view, it is actually quite small. Brittany and I had it in our heads to try to connect with the spirit of Harmon Hockenberry from the Brick and Mortar investigation. As we were walking, Brittany notices a nice sized feather lying on the grass.

"Oh, look! A feather," Brittany said.

"Oh, wow!" I said. "That's Deb sign that something is trying to connect. Maybe it's yours, too, since you have Native American in you."

Jokingly, I continued with "Maybe we should follow the feathers...."

Next thing we know, Brittany runs into yet another feather.

"Hmmm," I said. "Maybe there's something to this following the feathers thing."

We reached a set of stones and stopped. Before we even have a chance to look at the name on the first stone, Brittany says, "Oh my God! Look, another feather."

Sure enough, there it was at our feet. I looked up at the stone, and low and behold there is the gravestone of Daniel Hopper! When we did our investigation at the Diva Dog Boutique, we connected with the spirits of Daniel and Sarah who indicated to us that they were in the Lafayette Cemetery, but after some research, we were only able to find Sarah and a Daniel whom appeared to be her son. It was thrilling to see that Daniel and Sarah did end up together with their difficult circumstances and were now buried along with their son. The mystery of where Daniel Senior was is now solved.

We noticed that many of the stones were illegible and the chances of finding Harmon Hockenberry were limited. We had already checked most of the stones in the cemetery to no avail. We were getting ready to leave when we decided to check out a cluster of headstones at the far end of the cemetery before leaving. The very first stone we came upon was Mary Hockenberry! We never did find Harmon, but I am certain that he led us to Mary in order to indicate that he, indeed, was somewhere in the cemetery and most likely in one of the illegible graves or one whose tombstone disappeared long ago. I so love when a story comes full-circle, don't you?
